November 2007

This months photo is of John Braun Jr's giant scale Top Flite Mustang doing a fly-by. The Paint scheme is that of a German captured American P-51B Mustang.

October 2007

This months photo is of Dave Gianakos & Bob Frey P-47 modified from a Yellow Aircraft kit. This plane has a powered pneumatic canopy, working cowl flaps, a drop tank with unique 150 gal. flat tank designed by Dave, totally scaled and accurate cockpit, and unusual color scheme used by the 63rd Fighter Squadron of the 56th Fighter group on their M models in the last months of the war. It also has a totally scale wing bay with scratch built 50 caliber machine guns, and machined brass scale bullets and links. The model features a DA-50 gas motor, and modified Sierra gear. It weighs in at 28 pounds and flies very well. Check out Dave's P-47 page here.

September 2007

This months photo is of Jeff Bobo of Toulouse, France P-51D "Old Crow". The P51D is scratch built from a PPMOD fiberglass fuselage. The fuselage received important modification to get as scale as possible. The original "Old Crow" is an unarmed P51D based in Oslo in Norway. The model is at scale 1/5th, wingspan 89", Futaba radio, Century Jet retracts, ZG62 engine and 22/12 prop (static prop comes from Aerotech), it weighs 31 pounds and it is rather easy to fly despite an impressive speed at full throttle and strong left torque at take off (like the original!).
