By Paul Grubich and Randy Cady

Construction continues as stringers are now being put in place

Randy glued strips across the bottom former supports and screwed them into the building board to make sure the fuse did not twist during the stringer/planking construction.

Tail wheel servo support bracket shown. This bracket can be removed with the servo in case future servo replacement is needed. Randy is also using wire tubing from Radio Shack to feed and secure all wiring in the fuse.

Tail wheel bracket will allow tail wheel removal and repair. Tail wheels on large tail draggers take much abuse and it is a good idea to make them easy to access.

Planking has started and stabs are being fitted. Randy's Pink Flamingo shop Forman sits in the cockpit to make sure all is well.

The wingspan plans allow for a removable stab assembly and we think it is a great idea to help with transporting the plane. We are using Precision Aero Composite carbon fiber Tail Plane Joiner PBG96TS 1/2" x 24" - Tube & Sockets for this task.

Stabs are now sheeted and servos are in place. Randy is shown testing the elevator throw.

Circled areas show tabs for securing removable stabilizers. Randy will put aluminum tubes to guide ball driver when fuse tail is sheeted.

Our four RCV91-CD four cycle engines arrived today. We like the RCV engines because they present a lower profile and there should be much less sticking out of the cowl. These engines will be mounted inverted.

Progress continues as more sheeting is applied and tail surfaces are nearing completion.

Removable fin and stab are assembled to check fit. Rudder and elevator are covered.

Randy removes the fin showing hardwood guides and servo wiring.

Servo location was changed to the fin for a more direct linkage avoiding any unwanted movement. Randy is making sure all servos are easy to access and remove in case of future problems.
